Minori, Italia - Amalfi Coast

What I really love about the postcards, it is how much new information you can learn! I guess, I am always on the look for new places to visit and things to see. I am sure you all can relate to this. :) But it is quite wonderful to be able to "visit" so many places you have never hear about otherwise.

This is a beautiful little place in Italy. I would love to go there one of these days... I don't know if it is possible to visit every place on a postcard, but one can dream, right?

Minori is a town on the Amalfi Coast in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. It was founded in the 7th century B.C. by the Etruscans and was later occupied by the Roman Patricians. In the days of the Repubblica di Amalfi it was a place where many trade ships docked and sold their good off to intermediate sellers. In the year 987 it became a diocesan town. The river Reghinna Minor flows through the center of this town. Many paper makers and millers settled along the banks of this river. It was here that the first prototypes of a dish were developed that we can’t even dream of living without these days – pasta. Back then the fresh pasta was dried in the sun in the town squares and along the “Lungomare” promenade.

Thank you, Enzo, for a beautiful and dreamy card! My second official postcard from postcrossing.com.

  2. I love this little place too ... especially the houses seem attached to the hill.

  3. I fixed the picture and now you can see all those amazing little houses. :) I wonder how long it takes people to travel around their town. I hope they have a good transportation system!
